Are you ready to start speaking Korean confidently?

Are you fed up with watching countless Korean language Youtube videos, Instagram posts and trying to learn Korean on your own?

Walking away from language classes and language exchanges feeling inadequate, frustrated, and disappointed

You are dying to learn Korean but not sure where exactly to start?

You are wasting time studying (the wrong way) useless grammar, flashcards, and not improving?

Is that your Korean reality?

You can keep trying to figure things out on your own but the truth is...you are learning one of the hardest languages in the world.

So my question for you is: how are you going to take  responsibility for your own Korean so you can be on your way to fluency?

안녕하세요! 저는 한국어 선생님 네이뜬입니다! 반거워요!

My name is Nathan and I have been speaking Korean for the past 12 years. My Korean journey all started when I decided to have my parents send me to a Korean school in Los Angeles, California. I dreamed of being multilingual as a young typical African-American teenager growing up in the suburbs.

What a lot of people don´t know about my story is that I used learning Korean as a way to escape my abusive household and create a new life for myself abroad. Korean allowed me to get job opportunities, get accepted to one of the top universities in Korea, and make long lasting meaningful relationships.

Although I learned Korean as a teenager a huge part of my Korean study was done on my own through a lot of trial & error, determination, and struggle. From embarrassing encounters, pronunciation struggles, job interviews, awkward social situations, and so much more.

Korean for me is not just my second language but also a huge part of my life. I decided to become a Korean language coach because I know personally the struggles Korean language learners face. I am an expert at explaining complicated Korean grammar in an easy to understand way.

I want to help you develop the Korean confidence and skills you need. My goal at SmarterKorean is to help guide and support you to become a true Korean speaker.

I decided at the end of 2019 I was going to go independent but had no idea where to start. I contacted Nate with 'Go Independent From Scratch', and took his business strategy coaching. After the first session I was on fire! I completed his course and worked hard daily to Go Independent From Scratch!' And I have done just that. Five Apple ESL launched Q1 of 2020! I am running my own business and doing what I love on my terms. No more fear of the wrong feedback plummeting my ranking and ruining my income. I am the business and I learned it all from Nate! Thank you! There are other offerings out there BUT what I received from Nate was not only skill, but inspiration. I also received support throughout the process. I highly recommend working with Nate if it is your desire to Go Independent From Scratch!

What my students have to say:

Nathan by far is the best 선생님 I have ever had! I've had two other Korean teachers before coming to Smarter Korean. With Nathan, I am actually understanding and grasping the many, many, different grammar points (LOL). He breaks everything down for you and if you don't understand something, he has no problem breaking it down even further. I think what I enjoy the most is that I am learning 한국어 with someone I can relate to, someone who looks like me, and someone who understands the different nuances when it comes to learning a new language. I love the one-on-one classes, because they are fun and engaging. Nathan is always a quick email away and is available if you have any questions. There was part of a lesson that I was not understanding after our class, so he recorded a video and sent it over for me to review. I plan on learning with Smarter Korean for a while, as I have a goal of obtaining an Intermediate Mid (ACTFL) / B1 (CEFR) proficiency by the end of the year, which I think is possible.
